Golden-haired, intelligent, and beautiful Della, the much-loved niece of Lord Lainden, leads a seemingly golden life in the English countryside. In tune with nature and a skilled horsewoman, Della is happy and looking forward to her future. But an arranged marriage proposal to a man she neither trusts nor loves quickly shatters her rural idyll. Caught between her belief in true love and family duty, Della seeks refuge amongst her friends, the Romanies, who camp on her uncle’s land.
